Young Hawkesbury-based filly Campania could be Australian Oaks 2013 bound this autumn after catching the eye of her trainer Garry Frazer with her Rosehill win over the weekend.

Impressive Rosehill winner Campania will head towards the Australian Oaks 2013 in the autumn
While admitting the $550,000 Group 1 Australian Oaks (2400m) at Royal Randwick on April 20 is certainly an ambitious aim for the daughter of Dubai Destination, Frazer is hoping Campania continues to go through the grades and earns a shot at the big time this time in.
The Gold Coast Magic Millions graduate has had 11 starts so far for a trio of wins including her last two on the trot.
After a quarter length victory over 1400m on Boxing Day at Rosehill Campania stepped up to the 1500m on Saturday and won by the same margin again this time beating home the Peter Snowden-trained Imperil in the $85,000 Inglis 3YO Bonus coming from last on the turn to pull in her rivals and salute as a $14 outisder.
With 600m left to travel Campania was chasing them down over two lengths back from the rest of the field but she displayed a blistering turn of foot, impressive acceleration and will to win once she got down the far outside.
Frazer will continue to step her up in distance and class with the ATC Australian Oaks firmly in focus, the horseman confident Campaniaâs breeding will help her along.
âShe’s going to be a nice filly later on and she gets over a bit of a trip,â Frazer said on Saturday.
âI think she’ll make a nice filly in the autumn. She’ll only get better.
“I think she’d run 2000 metres tomorrow so maybe she could turn into an Oaks horse.
“She’s a staying filly for sure, she’s by Dubai Destination, who is one of the best stayers ever to come here, and her pattern tells you that.
“We’ll go home and have a look at her in a week or so, maybe tip her out and bring her back and get her ready for some of the fillies’ races in the autumn.”
Jockey Kathy OâHara, aboard Campania for the first time on Saturday, is also confident Frazer has a genuine Oaks-type on his hands.
“She’s got Oaks written all over her for me, she’s got the right make-up, right constitution and right attitude, so I’m really impressed with her,” O’Hara said.
“They went along at a genuine tempo, I got a long way back and I thought straightening up that she could run into a place but she switched to the outside and she just motored.
âShe has a really good turn of foot. It surprised me with how quick she picked them up, she rounded them up with ease.
âShe travels along out the back and wastes no energy.
“She switches right off and you don’t really know how much you’ve got underneath you and then when you click her up she finds another gear.”
